This damping phenomenon takes place in the spring pendulum oscillations examined in Sect. 10.2 since the maximum velocity, centrifugal force, spring extension, and length of the pendulum are attained at the moment when the swing passes its vertical (zero coordinate) position. That is why we cannot observe the parametric resonance in the gravitational spring pendulum.
Nevertheless, why the parametric resonance oscillation emerges in double spring pendulum, which scheme is given in Fig. 10.2? The fact is that the second suspended inertia pendulum damps the first pendulum oscillations and adds certain lag to them. Due to the lag, the parametric damping sequence of the first pendulum oscillations is shifted toward the parametric excitation. That cause is similar to the potentially dangerous parametric resonance excitations which appear in moving containers with loosely fixed cargo, liquids, and bulk cargos in partially full tankers.
